Description: The 2011 Walk for the Animals will be held at Duke University’s East Campus on May 21, 2011 from 9:00am to 1:00pm. More than 1,000 walkers and their pets will walk the 1.5 mile path around Duke to help raise awareness of and money for the homeless and neglected animals in our community. Youth $10

About the Walk
At the APS the animals in our care need their bodies and spirits healed, and most of all they need help finding someone who will give them unconditional love for the rest of their lives. This is why each day APS strives to be more than just a shelter. Yes, we provide the animals in our care with the basic necessities, food, water, shelter, medicine but we realize tomorrow more animals will be waiting at our door. And though our work at the shelter saves lives, it is not enough.
We need to stop the flow. How do we do this? Through education and outreach, through community events that touch lives.
So join us as we raise much needed money to supply the animals we serve with the basic necessities. But also join us as we start a movement towards a compassionate community that believes in Help, Love and Hope for all animals.

How to get Involved
Walk as an Individual: If you want to participate in the walk, select the “Register” button at the top of the page. From here you can choose to walk as an individual or you can form or join a team. Individual walkers qualify for fun prizes when they reach the $200 and $400 fundraising goals!
Create a Pack: Gather your friends, family and colleagues and create a team for the Walk for the Animals. If you raise $500 by May 1st your team will receive special personalized t-shirts. It’s a great way to come together and support APS! Don’t forget the team that raises the most money gets a special prize!
Donate: Would you like to support a walker’s fundraising efforts with a donation? Select the “Donate” button at the top of the page. From here you can find the name of the walk participant or team’s home page.
